Hello, I was a former person in the IT realm a few year back and used other live cd's often to help me with rather difficult issues with windows. But I never have used Hiren's, it seemed rather recommended 2 years ago which is when the last update seemed to be out. But my question is does the program update the virus definitions and etc, so that it would be useful to run those scans on a computer today? Any info is greatly appreciated. Every once in a while I'll use the minixp OS to delete a virus.exe because I can't get it to go away within windows. I've used the disk clone (partition magic) in the linux live OS when I can to avoid having to reinstall windows or to create/modify partions The fix mbr stuff works really well when you're having that kind of problem.

All in all it's a great cd/flash drive.it has a TON of tools on it which come in handy very often. Also customers are really impressed when their computer boots up this crazy different OS and you fly through the tools, then yank the disk and their computer magically works again! The best bet is to do a in OS removal. I will tell you my routine and why I do some of the things. Take notes • Remove unneeded/shitty programs in command prompt/with Revo: Always remove programs first as virus removal can remove them from the uninstall list while still leaving malicious traces. • TDSS Killer: Quick and if it does have a TDSS it will fix allot of problems making the rest of the process easy.
