I have a wireless card and a NIC. When I go into my LAN connection properties and check 'Microsoft Network Adapter Multiplexor Protocol' and click O, I get the error message that 'Your current selection will also disable the following features: Microsoft Network Adapter Multiplexor Protocol Are you sure you want to continue? Yes No' essentially, it's disabling itself when you enable it. I wanted the load balancing. Not sure if this can be done over DHCP or not or whether both have to have the same IP, no instructions or help are available on this.
This is in windows 8 cp. Hi, Thank you for posting the query in Microsoft community! I can imagine how much disappointing that must be. Do not worry; let us work together and get this issue fixed as early as possible.
Are you facing any issues with internet connection? Is the computer on domain? Do you have any 3rd party Antivirus Software? Method 1: You may disable the Windows Firewall and in addition to Windows Firewall, double-check any third-party firewall utilities that may have been installed with anti-virus or Internet security solutions.
Turning off Windows Firewall might make your computer (and your network, if you have one) more vulnerable to damage from worms or hackers. Method 2: Try putting the encryption to none on the Router and see if you still have the issue. Please keep in mind that after you take off the encryption it does leave the network unsecure, so only do this to test with and immediately re-enable the security on the router after you have performed the test.
Check with Router manuals and manufacturer to do this. See for reference to bug in windows 8 regarding wired connection and SSID. This is happening on my system and apparently it's happening to someone else. With such solutions, maybe I should just replace windows 8 with linux. I prefer to keep the worms OUT.
I don't like inviting them in. Security is paramount at our house because we have come critical systems, and mine is a development box, and I don't need viruses and worms in my software. I hope you have some better ideas. It would be better to simply set up guest access on the router. And that's against the rules. Please simply fix windows 8.
This shouldn't have happened in the first place. There's a bug. All microsoft network drivers. All windows 8 updates were regularly applied up until several weeks ago when the problem detailed at this URL happened: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-windows_update/windows-update-error-0x80072efd/42e154d9-3714-49aa-b19f-b4a2533219cf. I would like to see microsoft make a much easier way of enabling this 'teaming/multiprotocol' feature than enabling it in powershell!
Surely there's a more user-friendy way of doing this! This is user-hostile/sysadmins only etc. I would also like to see an exact description of that this does and how it affects the network(s) for the cases of multiple NICs on 1 LAN or multiple NICs each on their own LAN, say, on private networks or the equivalent of just plain old different subnets.
For instance, does each NIC get its own gateway? Could the windows 8 machine somehow become a hub? Tp link wn422g. Or a XAMPP web server serving multiple NICs in an office?
What exactly can you do with this feature? Just don't need to leave a feature half-baked in the OS.
I ended up here because of the OP's error happened when I wanted to enable it too. I was/am (haven't read all links yet) not sure of what it does, description: 'Provides a platform for network adapter load balancing and fail-over. Well it sounds good I want it on. After scrolling throug this thread I start to wonder is it like SLI or Crossfirex just for MULTIPLE network cards/teaming or whatever? OR is it something that is better to have than not if you are on a desktop with a single network card and no wifi (cant game properly with wireless gear anyway.
Microsoft Network Adapter Multiplexor Protocol Windows 10
And when my asus rampage III did not come with wifi.) Is Multiplexor Protocol something I should try to enable? My primary WAN concern would be LAG, not speed. 70mbit is plenty for gaming but IF you end up with 500ms lag then it gets tedious i would imagine.:P. I am sure I could learn a lot if I googled it myself.
Microsoft Network Adapter Multiplexor Tool
Actually thats how I ended up here in the first place, through google! I only have one NIC in my computer, it is wired directly to my Cisco cable modem. All I wanted, and still need is a yes/no answer (if it is for teaming ONLY not for any load balancing one a single NIC (in my head load balancing does NOT refer to teaming in any way)) because if it is for teaming I do not bother to learn about it then I could just ignore it. I came from a page (Google) with XXXXXX number of links to 'answers', I pick the top one, again hoping for ANSWERS and get served a bunch of links I ofc could have found myself, probably containing more links and so it goes! Why is Microsofts products the worst to get relevant info on?
It is either 'pay for a 3.party software to get help' sites or the REAL help sites who you really have to have a degree in engineering to half-fully understand!? This is really annoying! I mean now on windows 8, it should be like hover your mouse over options to get a brief explanation! Maby with a 'press here to delve deep into the 'problem'.
I am really tired after my second reinstall in a row because of network issues. I saw this option (again) googled it and voila here I am (again)! Really sorry my rantings now but I have not slept (besides in the chair in front of my pc for a half an hour a couple of times) for 48 hrs now!
- JoakimG EDIT: Again sorry. My mood is like it is and I ment every word, but I am NOT 'angry' that someone posts links. Do not take that personal please, Jim Michaels:) You try to help I understand that.
